Website Promotion why you need it ?

December 20th, 2008

Website promotion is done for better search engine results, to get more traffic and to make more sales. Your website is only responsible for attracting traffic and turning prospects into customers or sales. Thus, the main duty of the website itself is no much more than doing marketing. Then you just improve it by humanizing it into a real internet marketer.

The content of the website about your products or services should be presented clearly and attractively in both designing and writing style. All the features of your products or services should be mentioned completely and along with instructions and offers or bonuses as well. Doing this is just to make sure the customers are aware of how much they can get from your products or services and how they can get 100% out of them. You should also write about uniqueness about your products or services. When doing marketing it is essential to know well about your competitors and their features. Then you can easily state how unique your products or services are in the market.

website promotion is not just shaping something like doing SEO or some minor changes in the appearance of your website. If you can make it a real process, it can bring you real success.

Two Main Aspects Of Search Engine Optimization On-Page SEO And Off-Page SEO

November 12th, 2008

The term SEO is a very popular and common term used everywhere, SEO stands for search engine optimization and it is the process of optimizing, or making your site popular in search engines ranking. There are two main aspects of optimization which are on-page SEO and off-page SEO.

On-page SEO is a part of SEO which is performed on the web page itself so it is termed as on page SEO, on-page SEO is very elementary and is not widely used across. Off-page seo by name itself is performed outside the realm of the webpage itself. On page seo generally deal with such areas as optimizing the title, the keywords, the description, and the contents in such a way that when the search engines read the source code of the page, the automatic assumption is that the web page has as its main premise, the idea that the keyword emphasized, connotes.

Off-page seo deals with the creation or proliferation of inbound links that are themselves optimized for the web pages’ keyword or keyword phrase. When the search engines see that there are many inbound links to your web page that have similar topics to your web pages they will assume that your web page is viewed by other web pages as being respected as a web page specializing in your chosen keyword.

Search Engine Optimization Basics

October 2nd, 2008

SEO basics start with the composition of the words on your pages and what intrinsic value they offer your audience. The first prerequisite of SEO is understanding the basic correlation of content composition and the impact that content has on rankings respecitively.

Relevance is the underlying criteria that search engines reward, if your content is specific, informative and manages to acquire click through traffic, then your pages have the trappings of becoming popular which is a component to acquiring a top 10 ranking.

Aside from the title tag, (the main tag you use to describe the content of the page) and the links that endorse your content through back links (links from other sites)and the copy (which is completely under your control). There are fundamental guidelines you can adhere to that will assist you in keeping your content on topic to elevate topical relevance.

What are Search Engines?

Search engines are a cataloging system that are essentially transparent in their composition. Search engines are expected to glean information and organize data from thousands of unique industries, compile that data and then, based on the fetch command you issue as a result of you entering a boolean query in the search box are then expected to retrieve the most relevant result.

Understanding the premise of how search engines function rather than struggling to adapt and muscle your way up the SERPs (search engine result pages) is far easier instead.

Through appeasing the laws of their construction (the mathematical algorithm, teamed up with it’s ability to gain contextual artificial intelligence like phrase rank algorithm, search engines have the ability interpret the context of your pages.

Your focal point is simply to provide the ideal (relevant) result according to their ranking criteria. Which falls into three categories.

These three measuring sticks search engines use to assess content in addition to semantic synonyms and related phrases are called allinanchor, allintitle and allintext.

Talk about green widgets enough on your page, they know your page is about green widgets (allintext), placing it in the title is also a great way to signal the plane (allintitle) or get enough links from other pages that say your site is about green widgets and even if it is or not, it can potentially rank for that or related phrases (allinanchor).

That in a nutshell is how SEO basics play out according the the search engine spiders (the little programs that scour the web looking for new or exciting information to report back to the index).

The next part of SEO basics will cover how to ensure that your content is spider friendly or how to invite search engine spiders to skim, index and rank your content.

In closing, the gist is (1) make your titles unique (2) keep your writing style focused and use key words (words containing the phrases you want to rank for) as well as develop as many on topic links from other sites to cement your position in the search engine result pages.

Just writing about it on your site is not enough, unless you sites has hundreds of thousands of strong links pointing at in, in which case it can rank on the title tag alone. That is called website authority and is yet another topic we will be covering in the future.

The most relevant search result is the one that makes it to the top 10. There are no secrets involved, just logical relevance, but popularity counts so don’t just write dry content.

The whole exercise of SEO is to get traffic from people. Since people pay the bills and not spiders, make sure you have something worth saying and they will take notice and pass it along.

Otherwise, you are only helping your competition by leaving your guests hungry or thirsty for more topical information about your subject. In which case, they will simply return to the search engine and click the next result in the list. So, the bottom line is user engagement aside from topical relevance and traffic.

How Link Building Helps Your search engine Ranking

August 5th, 2008

The term “link building” is becoming a common word in online marketing strategies because it directly relates to how popular your website is. But what exactly is “link building”?

Understanding link building

Link building is one tactic that website owners discovered as a way to get their websites to appear in the top results of search engines. The method by which search engines, such as Google, qualify websites was based on their web page rankings, in other words, it’s basically a question of website popularity. In early years, search engines determined this position by the number of “keywords” they have on their website, either on the text itself, the title, etc., which is basically any and all elements on the page.

Naturally, web programmers for the search engines figured out that website owners found a loophole in the existing system and were cramming way too many keywords into their web pages. They then designed the search engines to determine the quality of the website based on the number of links from external websites. Their thinking was, this website must be good or informative which is why many people are providing a link to it.

Theoretically, it was sound in principle. Unfortunately, as with any other good intention, this condition was also abused. Website owners found a way to acquire and set links towards their websites by listing themselves in link farms. Link farms are basically websites with nothing but links to other websites.

Thus, search engines got another overhaul and up to date, this is how they determine the quality of websites - they assigned a quality factor to the links pointing to your websites. Meaning it wasn’t in the number of links that your page has been referred to but in whether these links also have a high quality rating that will enable your website to be in the top pages of the search engines.

How to maximize link building in order to get high web page rankings?

Now that you have a basic comprehension of how link building was developed, what are the things that you need to do to initiate good links to raise your web page ranking?

First, you need to understand the different type of links at your disposal. There are (a) one-way links: inbound and outbound links and (b) two-way links: reciprocal links. Inbound links are those pointing to your website from other websites. This was the original intention of the search engine developers based on the concept that if someone likes your site, they’ll refer or recommend it to others. As such, they get more quality points and are highly recommended if you want to increase your web page ranking. Outbound links are those that you as a website owner point to a website other than yours. It may not increase your link popularity but neither will it decrease it. Reciprocal links, as the name suggests, is a two-way link. You can point to a different website at the same time expecting that website to point to yours. This will be to your advantage if the link pointing to yours has a high quality ranking.

The key is getting links from websites with high quality ranks. Also, getting listed in well-known directories, like Yahoo, is always a plus.

Second, you need to continue to offer creative, interesting and informative content to keep readers coming back for more. If they like your site, you don’t even need to ask them to create a link to your site, they’ll do it of their own volition.

Third, take advantage of your networks, like suppliers or customers. A good relationship with them will always ensure reciprocity with good links as well. You can always create new networks when you come across websites that you yourself find relevant to your business or personal life. You may choose to email the website owner and request a link from their site to yours. Some times, they may expect a reciprocal link, other times none is required. It will also be good if you ask them to visit your website prior to making their decision to know that you are above board with your request.

Who needs it?

If you want qualified traffic to your website, you’ll invest in a link building strategy. The higher your quality of links is, the better page ranking results you’ll get. It means that your website will always be on the first page of search results if you have a high-ranking web page. It usually implies a certain sense of trust in your website and therefore in your products and services as well if you have a lot of quality inbound links to your website. Be aware though that link building is a time-consuming process and its effects may not be seen and felt immediately. Nevertheless, if you persevere and take action based on what was mentioned earlier then expect to see results and a guaranteed increase in traffic in your website.

Including SEO Within Your Internet Marketing Strategies

August 2nd, 2008

A very important part of your Internet marketing and site promotion strategy should include search engine marketing so your site can get as much free organic search engine traffic as possible. Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of optimizing a Web page or pages making them search engine friendly where they can be properly identified and scored by the search engines.

SEO makes it possible for your Website or blog to get a great ranking among other sites and uses methods such as on-page optimization and off-page optimization or also called link building a process of increasing the link popularity to your site.

One of the first stages of SEO pivots around targeting keywords and keyword phrases you want to rank for. Once you have done your market research you can optimize your page titles using a few keywords per page.

The most important thing is to write great compelling content that is useful to the people that read it. You don’t want to write for the search engines, make sure you write in a way that will help pre-sell your products and services and lead people over to your Website.

Now, just having a great Website does not mean anything unless your site gets found by people who are looking for what you have to offer. You can only prosper when you get the right people visiting your site i.e. people who are keen on checking out the products and services that you offer. This can only happen if your site is optimized so it can be found and ranked by the search engines.

Search engine optimization differs from the other networking endeavors because the results allow your site to be found by anyone online at any time. By optimizing your WebPages correctly you can expect your pages to rank well once you get a few quality inbound links.

Unlike many online marketing strategies, SEO can actually pay for itself quickly if you have a good product or service that people desire. All SEO strategies are strategies that you can actually do yourself once you know what to do. Many business owners choose to save time by hiring search marketing experts to take care of their search marketing.

Your site can rank well in the major search engines, you just need to either educate yourself so you can learn how the search engines work or you can find a search marketing firm that can help you get your site ranking well in the search engines.

Free Ways to Get Quality Backlinks for Search Engine Optimization

August 2nd, 2008

One of the best places to get free reviews is through social networking sites. On social networking sites, people talk about each other all the time. Social networking sites are going to take a bit more work to get reviews because you’re going to have to participate and make your presence known before you can ask other people to review. Another way to do this is to have something to review other than you or your website with a bunch of backlinks.

If you are just trying to sell a product or are trying to get a site link as StumbleUpon, along with a review, this will give you some backlinks to your main site. You can also send reviews to places that are always looking for new product reviews - you can even do this with products that you are not selling.

If you become one of the first people to review a product, this is going to put your site at the top of the list, which will generate good traffic and help with your advertising. If your product is unique, this may give you a product review.

If your product could fit in an envelope, you might think about mass mailing it to several webmasters in your particular niche and requesting that they reviewed. Even better, you could offer that they become sellers of your product as long as they provide you a backlink, like Craigslist.

There are also sites that review websites as their main focus. You can submit your website for a review and get a backlink. The only problem with this is that you are not guaranteed that you are going to get a positive review. For example, if your layout is less than stellar, they will probably say that. This means that you might get one-way backlink, but it might not be in your favor, so be careful there. This is a risk you are going to take when you submit to website domain review sites, so make sure you trust that your own website is truly of good quality.

You can also utilize bloggers as part of the process for reviews. However, you are likely going to have to review the bloggers website, too. There are several ways to do this, but most likely you will have to do an even exchange. However, this is still a great way to generate some pre-backlinks. To do this, you establish your own blog under your domain so that you can do some social networking within blog communities.

If you are new to the Internet, it might seem like it is a very large task to get free unforced backlinks to your site. Natural backlinks are very important to give you a solid reputation with search engines, but as with inexperienced jobseekers, you, too, are not going to have the qualifications to attract someone who is interested in you. Nonetheless, the Catch-22 of that is that you are going to have to get those qualifications (in this case, backlinks) to establish the working reputation you need.

What do you do, then, Say that you were in a very tight job market and that market was only looking for experienced people; however, you do not have those qualifications. You might get the qualifications by volunteering or doing an internship. This is similar to what you are going to have to do to get some truly valuable backlinks that will count towards your reputation. You’ll have to do some legwork and seek out backlinks just as you would job or volunteer opportunities if you were a newbie in the job market looking for experience.

Spotting a Backlink Lead

Search engines will ignore backlinks that look like spam. In fact, this has become such a problem for search engines and blog communities alike that most automatically put the attribute rel=nofollow in their templates to keep commentators from spamming just to try to get backlinks.

Unfortunately, this also stops people who are genuinely marketing their products via commentary. To this end, many communities have found that switching back to dofollow from nofollow as the attribute is best, then, someone in that site specifically takes care of the spam. This means that those commentators who contribute significantly to the community have their backlinks. These sites are called dofollow sites, as compared to nofollow sites.

Where You Get Started

Even though you know people are willing to give you a head start in the backlink market, though, this doesn not actually tell you where to go. These people do not want to advertise that they are willing to give backlinks and therefore attract spammers. Therefore, you are going to have to do some research and find out which websites will give you proper credit as long as you do the work on your end. This will help keep you from wasting valuable time on people who do not want to give you the time of day.

Just as you would not go to an employer who is not hiring anyway, thus wasting your time, you want to focus on websites that are already ready to work with you. These will give you backlinks for just a small amount of effort. These websites have established a dofollow attribute back into their community forums and websites.

However, if you have to actually go to every referral and ask them whether or not they are legitimate dofollow sites, it is going to take you forever. However, with the Internet, you can network your way into multiple referrals in a fraction of the time. One of the great ways to do this is through forums and bulletin boards. These places will give you information on websites that allow legitimate commentary or contribution to a community, along with backlinks. These places often post lists of sites and forums that accept legitimate backlinks, and they can provide you with an instant marketing contact referral list as well.

Why Blogging is the New Internet Marketing Technique

5 Reasons Why Blogging is the New Internet Marketing Tool

Blogging is a concept that started in late 90s.  It used to be a way to comment an existing webpage, an opportunity for visitors and readers to react or voice out one’s opinion on the said page.  What started as a single-sentence commentary has evolved into pages of personal take on just about anything and everything under the sun.  As it continues to move forward, online advertising has tapped into the blog’s potential.  Here are 5 reasons why you should use blogging as an Internet marketing tool.

1.Blogging is simple.  The simplest way to get your piece on the net is through blogging.  No skills are necessary… an average adult can read and type, or at least click a mouse.  It’s like having a virtual piece of paper and you just write your ideas, experiences, new products, and hope that the truth behind your articles comes out and entice your reader to also try your product.  If you have a PC and an Internet connection (who doesn’t?) then you can blog and advertise.

2. Blogging is authentic.  In this day and age where advertising saturate our lives, we question the credibility of promoters’ claims.  However, in blogs, real people share their real-life experiences, unscathed by paid advertising.  Reading blogs about first-hand product use is like talking to people about their first-hand experience.  You definitely want to buy a tried and tested product.

3. Blogging is free.  Because blogging is yet to be proven as a mainstream online advertising media, most sites see it as something to augment current marketing tools and thus offer it for free.   Any opportunity for free webtime is definitely a bonus especially to businesses that are starting up.  Needless to say, paid blog pages can generate more income for your seriously growing business.

4. Blogging builds credibility.  As you get more and more into writing your experiences on a particular product or industry, your readers come to realize that they can depend on your posts for their own information needs.  As such, you become an expert on it; as a consequence, more readers visit your site and more bloggers link to your blogs.  As companies and professional organizations notice the growth of your readership base, they may soon get in touch with you for advertising on your blog page, or make you an affiliate, which pays for every referral generated from your blog site.

5. Blogging builds your market.  Unless you are a Hollywood star, chances are, only your Mom reads your posts.  Mom has a lot of friends, so she lets her friends know how interesting your blog site is.  But you need not depend on Mom to increase your readership base.  Look into the following ways to build your market through blogging:

-By using your e-mail.  Today, blogging is overcoming the e-mail’s popularity in quickly and effectively reaching and expanding a market.  In this age of speed and quick access, logging in and downloading e-mail is simply taking longer than clicking into a blog site.  Let them explore your site by using a short e-mail message as teaser to your blog site.  If your e-mail is on an entirely different subject, use your e-mail signature to give a link to the site.

-By using subscription.  An easy way to get your readers e-mail is to give them an opportunity to subscribe to your blogsite.  Keep some exclusive information for your subscribers to entice readers to subscribe and give their e-mail address.  Just be responsible in using their e-mail address, as the last thing you want is a comment on your blog that you are a spammer.

-By understanding your readers.  Conduct a simple survey for your readers to understand their profile and advertising preferences.  Ask consumers to give you feedback on a post, an ad link, or a trial that you shared.  In this way, it is like interviewing your readers without the commitment and intrusion of a face-to-face interview.

-By joining a blog network –A network of blogs maybe a collection of blog sites that share the same industry, interest, readership base, payment mode, etc.  Consumers find credibility and convenience in clicking one link to several real bloggers about a single subject.  Clearly, more bloggers are better than one.

-By using RSS. RSS is the fastest growing technology on the Internet today.  As such, having RSS feeds to your blog is definitely another means of generating awareness for your readership base.  Having a variety of feeds can add interest to your blog site.

Give your business a boost by effectively using blogging as an Internet marketing tool.

Website Traffic: Do you really need it?

June 15th, 2008

Web traffic is one among the major needs of an online business owner. A web site will never exist and will not profit as well if traffic is not coming in.  When you have a good flow of web traffic, you are guaranteed to attain success and profits.

Its just like having a store. It doesn’t matter how good you are as a salesman or if you have the best products, if no one comes in your store, they may never know. And even if you advertise, if your marketing strategies are weak, it could be buried beneath the other marketing schemes of other stores. This is especially in the Internet where there is stiff competition.

New users are prone to commit mistakes on just wanting traffic or even joining a particular program that offers many web traffic promos. Most of them are useless. If a particular website does not make enough money, they will give up easily.

However, most still try to pursue the business and eventually learn from the mistakes they made. They do not only need web traffic but a laser targeted web traffic. This means that the visitor will visit your site without actually forcing them because they are interested in the business that you are offering.

The target web traffic will give you success. They visitor will love visiting your website because your site have all the things they want.

The following tips will be very useful in attracting targeted web traffic:

•    Start up by promoting your website. You can pay for some advertiser that can successfully promote your website.  Begin realizing that a big market that has high levels has many affiliate programs in the e-market business. If you are a beginner that sells books or software online, the easiest and cheapest way to promote your business is thru click bank. There are many successful e-book sellers who use the program.

•    Add more quality content to your website as it will permanently increase your traffic level. Many search engines use this technique. You are not even required to create your own contents but you can use the free articles available online. You only have to choose an article that is related to your topic and is a public domain.

•    You can also create your own web content, that also provides others with great information. You can put a small resource box at the end of the article that can be opened as a link to your particular site. In doing this, it is like putting the entire search engine as your link. This will increase the websites that are linked to you.

•    Build you own mailing list. This is an effective way to have loyal visitors to your site. You should publish quality contents to your website to be credible. The visitors will trust your website and will be the first choice during a visit to the net.

•    You should use the pay-per-click engines, as it will effectively increase your traffic. You only have to choose the keywords carefully; with keywords that are more specific, more visitors will visit your website. Keep in mind that you should get more visitor than what you pay for the clicks. You can track all the keywords that are entered to your site. Choose the most researched topic and place it as the keyword. This will bring you more web traffic and profit as well.

•    Blogs are useful. It is the most effective way to links the visitors to your site. It is also useful in marketing and research purposes that drive the traffic to the pages of your site. You should make a blogset or 10 blogs. It should contain at least 250 words per blog and should use keywords that are specific or related to the target keywords.

•    Pay-per-click is always an effective way to increase your visitors. You will be high-ranked because of the certain keywords that search engines look for. There are different portals of traffic that you can buy. Check the quality of the traffic they provide and if it can give you more profit.

•    Do a press release by advertising your website. Participate in trade shows, seminars and special conferences. Learn more about the online traffic generating strategies. This can be a good alternative aside from pay-per-click engines.  You can also use magazines and newspapers to advertise your website.

You need web traffic to profit a lot. You can use all the methods above to run your website successfully. Check some information over the internet to supply you with more knowledge about it. Learn more and be successful in you website business.

Black Hat Seo VS White Hat Seo

June 4th, 2008

Ethical SEO = White Hat
Search Engine Spammers = Black Hat

For those who haven’t heard, for the past year or two some have labeled different forms of search engine optimization by different hat colors. Those who practice what some refer to as “ethical” SEO are the White Hats (like the good guys in the movies), and those who some refer to as “spammers” are the Black Hats (like the bad guys in the movies). Those who are not quite as pure as the driven snow but who aren’t quite as… umm… aggressive as a full-fledged “search engine spammer” are sometimes referred to as Gray Hats.

But are these labels helping anyone, and do they really mean anything? Certainly, the SEO methods I use would put me into the White Hat category. Lucky me. Does this make me better than those in the Black Hat category? I guess the question would be, better at what? It doesn’t make me a better person, nor does it necessarily make me a better SEO. It might make me better at not getting a site banned from the search engines, but then again, most Black Hats know that their sites will eventually get banned and have figured that into their business model. So it’s not really a question of good or bad, like the hats seem to imply.
Different Business Models

I’ve had the unique opportunity of meeting SEOs of every hat color in forums and in person. For the most part SEOs are all just regular people trying to run their businesses, hoping to make some money, and trying to do what’s best for their clients. What I’ve noticed, however, is that even though we may all call ourselves SEOs, our clients and our business models are truly like night and day. So instead of having a different word for what we do, it has been easier for many to use the hat thing to differentiate ourselves.

I have the luxury of picking and choosing my clients, and I simply won’t take a client that will have to compete with tons of sites that use Black Hat SEO techniques to survive. You know the types I mean, they’re the kind you see in your email trash folder every morning. Basically, if they spam you by email, you can pretty much bet they’re spamming the search engines as well. The reality is that there is a TON of money to be made if you can figure out how to get high rankings for those types of sites. Some can make hundreds of thousands of dollars a month using their Black Hat techniques for their sites. That’s pretty impressive, and it’s also big business. Some of the brightest minds in the industry are Black Hat spammers and proud of it! They don’t even mind being called Black Hats or spammers.
Different Approaches and SEO Techniques

What those guys do as SEOs, however, really has nothing to do with what I do as an SEO. Sure, we’re all trying to bring targeted search engine visitors to our sites, but that’s where the similarities end. I don’t have to keep up with every tiny algorithm shift, or the latest technique that the engines haven’t caught onto yet. It’s completely irrelevant to what I do. In my biz, I simply have to be aware that search engines exist, understand how and why people use them, and fix my clients’ sites so that there’s a good fit between the site, the user, and the search engine. White Hat SEO is about 1/3 science and 2/3 art, whereas Black Hat SEO is probably the other way around. The art for White Hatters comes into play by finding the perfect balance between user and search engine. The art in Black Hat SEO comes into play when dreaming up new techniques to use in the engines, when the current one stops working.

Both White Hat and Black Hat SEOs have their place. Lots of people are indeed looking for the types of products and services that Black Hatters specialize in. There is a huge demand for their black magic. As much as I hate lousy search results, as long as the Black Hats are doing their thing to the types of sites that I wouldn’t be seeking out anyway, then it really doesn’t bother me; it’s the search engines’ problem to get rid of it.
Website Goal - Stable Business or Quick, Risky Fix?

The important thing to note, however, is that most sites don’t need to resort to Black Hat SEO.

It all depends on what the Website owner’s goal is. Do they want quick fixes and throwaway domains for the chance of a temporary big payoff, or do they want a stable business that takes a lot of time and energy, but which pays off handsomely over time? Neither one is necessarily right or wrong — just different. It’s just like the stock market or gambling in many ways. If you’re willing to be extremely aggressive, there’s a chance you’ll make a ton of money. However, there’s usually even more of a chance that you’ll lose a ton also. It really comes down to how much of a gambler you are.

For a company looking for long-term success, there is absolutely no reason to gamble with their site. I cannot stress this enough. When I’ve written in the past on how spamming the search engines is bad and unnecessary, this is what I’m talking about. Most people don’t have Websites in industries that need to go the Black Hat route. Those that go to the “dark side” anyway often regret it later. (They like it while it’s working, of course!) But seriously, even though it may take more lead-time, the White Hat method is a lot less stressful, and quite frankly a whole lot easier. I can take a look at almost any site and know exactly what needs to be done to it to help it achieve long-term success.

I think even most of the really good Black Hatters wouldn’t even recommend their techniques for most brand-name companies and the like. It’s simply not worth it, and in nearly every case it’s unnecessary.
